You would be hard pressed to find anyone from northern New Jersey or New York City that is unfamiliar with the Pocono mountains of Pennsylvania. As you might expect, the popularity of the area has also created a demand for Pocono Mountain real estate. While the Pocono Mountain region was always a favorite vacation area, it has grown into a great place for raising a family. When you consider the beautiful atmosphere of the area, there is no surprise at the growth in the popularity of the Pocono mountains.
When my children were small, we loved camping the in Poconos. On most camping trips, we’d also visit some Pocono vacation homes with the future in mind. In those days, there was little variety in home styles. You could immediately identify the construction and appearance of the homes as typical mountain vacation homes in the standard barn red color. Due to the population growth, vacation homes took on an entire new look somewhere in the mid 1990′s
The variety of Pocono Mountain vacation homes on the market today reveal the trend toward beautiful homes with energy conscious buyers in mind. The many private communities spread throughout the area offer a huge variety of vacation and year around homes. While in the old days, a vacation home meant ‘bare bones with no convenience or even insulation’, today’s vacation homes are built with the same standards and characteristics as the year around homes in the area. When you combine the fact that the Pocono Mountains are a relatively short drive from New Jersey and the New York City area, you begin to appreciate it’s wide appeal. The Pocono Mountain region of Pennsylvania has become a prime year around destination for vacating families and a great place to relocate and enjoy the beauty of the many quaint little towns, private communities and lakes.
